No Room In The Inn

This past Christmas I was reading in Luke about the birth of Jesus.  Luke 2:7 (NASB) it is written “And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”  I thought about of all the places for the The Lord Jesus to lay.  But I would not think it would be a manger.  The thought cross my mind do us as Christian always have room for Jesus in our inn?  The inn could be our thoughts, our daily activities, our vacations, our hobbies, and our hearts.

I’m RW and let’s have a fireside chat about “No room in the inn”

The Inn had no room for Mary, Joseph and Jesus.  It was completely full.  Each day I wake up to start a new day it is so easy to get consumed by all that needs to be accomplished according what I have planned.  It became more clear to me especially at Christmas time how for those that celebrate Christmas are consumed by decorating, buying gifts, receiving gifts, preparing food, and eating food.  I am not saying that is wrong.  But you must keep the focus on what Christmas really means.  For some doing all those things they still miss the reason for the season.   I think about Luke 10:38-42 (NIV) At the Home of Martha and Mary “38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, He came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to Him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at The Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to Him and asked, Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me! 41 Martha, Martha, The Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” We are so consumed about getting things done we lose the real true focus.

Let me ask about your day other than Christmas time.   Do you take/make the time to have quality time with The Lord?  Do you give Him the Presidential Suite in your inn or does he get the studio room with no view in your inn or is there a sign out that reads “Sorry we are full and have no rooms”. 1 Chronicles 16:11 (ESV)Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!” In order to seek Him continually you have to have room for Him.  God says “You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart.”  Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV).

Now this blog was inspired during the Christmas holidays.   But I want to challenge you not just to make room in your inn at Christmas time.  I want to challenge you to make room in your inn every day of the year.   Lamentations 3:25 (ESV), Psalm 119:10 (ESV), and Psalm 119:2 (NIV).

Do not deny Christ in our everyday lives.
