Tweeting With The Lord God

Twitter is a social messaging system that has taken the internet by storm. Twitter allows you to send short messages of 140 characters or less to your “followers,” a group of people who have agreed to receive your messages.   A tweet is sent through the micro-blogging platform, Twitter.  Millions of people log into Twitter to follow people to hear what they have to say.  Some are so consumed they continuously check Twitter by the minute to read the thoughts of others.

I’m RW and let’s have a fireside chat about “Tweeting with The Lord God”

On the Wikipedia website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitter a study done in 2011 noted that 140 million tweets are posted daily.  I am sure that number has grown in the last three years.  The site also indicated that 40% of the tweets are pointless babble and about 38% is conversational.  The lowest percentage was 4% representing news and spam.  Interesting that news and spam are the same percentage. Christ says “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” Mark 8:34 (ESV) and Luke 9:23 (ESV).  People seem to be consumed to hear or see what athletes, actors and entertainers are doing or saying.  How many times have you gone to social media (twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Flicker, or Youtube) today to read or get information on a person?   Have you spent more time today on social media than you have spent in God’s word?

Several scripture come to mind John 12:26 (ESV) “If anyone serves me, he must follow me; and where I am, there will my servant be also. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him”.  Do you follow Jesus no matter what?  Luke 9:57 (ESV) “As they were going along the road, someone said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go.” In order to know where The Lord God wants you to go you have to be in His Word and Praying.   John 10:27 (ESV) “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”  If you are not in His Word and Praying you will not know where to follow.  John 10: 5 (ESV) “A stranger they will not follow, but they will flee from Him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”  You may say I follow Christ; but do you only do it when it is convent for you? Are you willing to follow and protect the brand of Christ no matter what?  Matthew 10:22 (ESV) “And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”

I have a shirt that reads “When Jesus said Follow Me. He wasn’t talking about Twitter”
