Do You Know Your Value?

People want to be accepted in life.  Whether it is by their family, friends, co-workers or groups they are involved in.  At times, however, they put their value (worthiness) in how other people think of them.  They seek others to fill a void in their lives, a void that can only be filled by Jesus.  At times it may push them to do things that are not healthy physically or mentally for them.   They do these things or carry out these actions because they do not want to lose a relationship or feel their value is not needed.

I’m RW and let’s have a fireside chat about “Do you know your value?”

First let me say we should not put our value (approval) of who we are in the hands of man because our Heavenly Father has clearly stated our value.  Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ” We were made in the image of Christ Genesis 1:27.  Christ valued us so much that he died for us while we were still sinners Romans 5:8.  The price was very high but the gift is free.  When you accept the free gift that makes you part of God’s family John 1:12 and Galatians 3:26 you become royalty; you are a son or daughter of the Most High King.

Christ views us as valuable. God created us (Colossians 1:16 – “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him”) so that alone makes us valuable.  Here are a few scriptures to encourage and empower you about the value you have in God’s eyes.

Matthew 10:29-31 – “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”

Proverbs 31: 11-13 – “A wife of noble character who can find?  She is worth far more than rubies.  Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.”

Ephesians 1:13-14 – “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory

Recently I went through a Bible study where a pastor used the example of a $100 bill.   In the example, he describes the $100 bill being balled up and thrown on the ground where it was walked on.  Then it was thrown into the mud and subjected to the elements of the weather.  The $100 bill was picked up after all that and guess what?  It was still a $100 bill that has not lost any value. As a Christian there will be times when you feel balled up, thrown to the ground, walked on, and subject to all kinds of elements.  But remember, we do not lose any of our value of who we are in Christ.  We are still princes and princesses to the King of Kings.  Your self-worth is measured in Christ not how man views you.
